IUCPSS celebrates 9th anniversary: Our degrees focus on knowledge with lesser attention to skills

National March 1, 2021 Islamabad: The Inter-University Consortium for the Promotion of Social Science (IUCPSS) is celebrating its 9th anniversary with a series of talks by experts in higher education. The inaugural talk in this series was done by Prof. Dr. S. Sohail H. Naqvi, Vice Chancellor University of Central Asia. His talk focused on the ‘Higher Education during and post COVID-19 – Opportunities and Challenges for Pakistan.’ This talk would assist in identifying future avenues for the upcoming education policy in the country. Professor Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar, Vice Chancellor of the National Skills University and Founding Chairperson of the IUCPSS, welcomed the guest. Prof. Dr. Fazal Khalid, Chairman Punjab Higher Education Commission, shed light on the numerous services of Prof. Naqvi in higher education and technological forefronts.

National February 12, 2021 Islamabad: Vice chancellors of the universities and other stakeholders on Thursday presented various suggestions for incorporating in new education policy set to be announced on 23rd March 2021. They also demanded for declaring education emergency across the country and spending four percent of GDP on education. The speakers were addressing an important online panel discussion successfully concluded here on the topic of Debating Pakistan Education Policy 2021.It was arranged prior to 3rd Rectors Conference 2021. The panel comprising of concerned stakeholders including government officials from Federal Ministry of Education and Professional Training, Vice Chancellors, Central President Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association.

Panelists demand declaring Education Emergency, spending 4% of GDP on education By Hamid Khan Wazir ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Speakers at a penal discuss stressed the need for declaring an Education Emergency and spending at least 4% of GDP on education in order to bring improvement in the long-neglected Education Sector. The panel comprising concerned stakeholders including government officials from the Federal Ministry of Education and Professional Training, Vice-Chancellors, Central President Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association. They gave various recommendations in an online panel discussion on the topic of “Debating Pakistan Education Policy 2021”, which was successfully concluded on Thursday. The recommendations were given so as they could be incorporated in the new Education Policy which is going to be announced on March 23, 2021.

The grants are part of Ohio Wesleyan’s signature program, The OWU Connection. The unique program is designed to help students think big (understand issues from multiple academic disciplines), go global (gain international perspective), and get real (translate classroom knowledge into real-world experience). Those earning fall 2020 Ohio Wesleyan Theory-to-Practice Grants and their projects are: “Structural Biology: A Tool for Studying Modern Medicinal Practices,” submitted by Kaden Hubly, a junior from Kankakee, Illinois. During the summer, Hubly will study X-ray diffraction techniques using the Synchrotron Radiation Lightsource (SRL). “Recent studies using the SRL have helped aid in cancer chemotherapy dru
