London (AFP) – Rangers defender Connor Goldson has spoken of his pride as he stands one game away from completing every minute of the season for the Scottish champions four years after undergoing heart surgery.
The 28-year-old centreback has played in all of Rangers’ 55 games so far this season as Steven Gerrard’s men bid to complete their Premiership season unbeaten against Aberdeen on Saturday.
Goldson was at Brighton, currently in the English Premier League, when he was told he needed surgery to cure a heart condition in 2017 and feared his career was over.
But he bounced back from that scare, joining Rangers the following year and is now just 20 minutes away from racking up 5,000 minutes for the season.

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has opened up on his planning for next season and admits it “never stops” as he looks to “[fix] the roof when the sun is shining.”
The Light Blues have already signed Nnamdi Ofoborh and Fashion Sakala ahead of the new season with Scott Wright and Jack Simpson originally signing on pre-contracts before making the move to Ibrox in the winter transfer window.
Gerrard confirmed recruitment meetings have been taking place “for some time” ahead of his side’s title defence as he insisted there will be more new faces to arrive added to his Rangers squad later in the summer.

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard is in awe of Joe Ariboâs inspiring performance at left-back in Wednesdayâs 3-0 away defeat of Livingston.
In the absence of Borna Barisic, the No. 10 was drafted to play a defensive role against David Martindaleâs men.
Even at that, he excelled as he perfectly linked up with Jack Simpson, Connor Goldson, and James Tavernier to help the Gers keep a clean slate.
As a result of that, the Liverpool legend reserved special praise for Aribo, while labelling him his âman-of-the-matchâ.
“What can I say about Joe Aribo? Gerrard was quoted by the Rangers website.
