Ameriprise Financial to Acquire BMO’s EMEA Asset Management Business

Ameriprise Financial, Inc. (NYSE: AMP) today announced that it has signed a definitive agreement with BMO Financial Group (BMO) to acquire its EMEA asset management business for £615 million, or approximately $845 million. The all-cash transaction adds $124 billion of AUM in Europe and is currently expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2021, subject to regulatory approvals in the relevant jurisdictions.

In one of Microsoft’s largest acquisitions, the software giant is acquiring voice recognition and artificial intelligence specialist Nuance Communications in an all-cash transaction valued at $19.7 billion. The acquisition is Microsoft’s second largest purchase following its $26.2 billion buy of LinkedIn in 2016.
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said the acquisition of Burlington, Mass.-based Nuance will effectively double Microsoft’s total addressable market (TAM) in the health-care provider space, bringing the company’s TAM in health care to $500 billion.

IBM has settled on a new name for its $19 billion managed infrastructure services business once it’s spun out from Big Blue later this year: Kyndryl.
The Armonk, N.Y.-based technology giant revealed Monday that Kyndryl will be based in New York City and adopt a logo with the company’s name written in red and entirely in lowercase. The spinout of the 4,600-client Kyndryl business is expected to occur by the end of 2021, more than a year after the separation plan was first unveiled.
