Lilly Endowment approves another $16.75M in grants for pandemic needs in Indiana FREE NEWSLETTERS March 6, 2021 The Indianapolis-based Lilly Endowment Inc. has approved another $16.75 million in grants to help Indiana communities address needs related to the COVID-19 pandemic. The latest grants consist of $15 million for the Indiana United Ways network, which aids 86 counties, and $1.75 million for the United Way of Central Indiana, which typically aids Boone, Hamilton, Hancock, Hendricks, Marion and Morgan counties. In this case, the latter grant is dedicated specifically to pandemic relief efforts in the five counties surrounding Marion. In January, the endowment made $17.2 million in grants to support 38 organizations in Marion County, including community centers, food banks and churches.

Lilly Foundation invests in Indy Cultural Trail expansion

(Inside INdiana Business) – Indianapolis Cultural Trail Inc. has announced that the Eli Lilly and Co. Foundation is making a $1 million grant to support the expansion of the Indianapolis Cultural Trail. Plans for the $30 million project include the addition of two miles of pathway to the eight-mile trail. The nonprofit organization says the project is expected to be completed in 2022. “The last year has highlighted the important role the Indianapolis Cultural Trail plays in promoting physical and mental well being by providing our community access to free, accessible and safe open space,” said Kären Haley, Indianapolis Cultural Trail, Inc executive director. “This generous investment from the Lilly Foundation will allow even more people to take advantage of the Trail and will better connect our city’s thriving neighborhoods.”
