John Mendelsohn s first solo exhibition at David Richard Gallery opens in New York Installation: John Mendelsohn, Color Wheel + Tenebrae Paintings. Artwork Copyright © John Mendelsohn, Courtesy David Richard Gallery. NEW YORK, NY .-David Richard Gallery is presenting, Color Wheel + Tenebrae Paintings, the gallery’s first solo exhibition for New York artist, John Mendelsohn. This exhibition features two series of works by Mendelsohn, the Color Wheel paintings from 2020 and the Tenebrae paintings from 2014. Each series has a distinctive approach to color and structure, but in both groups, the abstract qualities conduct an undercurrent of emotion. Constellations of moods and meanings evoked by the paintings are reflected in two poems commissioned by the artist: Jeffrey Cyphers Wright’s “A Round” on the Color Wheel series, and Danny Rivera’s “Ekphrasis” on the Tenebrae series.

NEW YORK, NY .-Pace Gallery is presenting Intermediaries, a solo exhibition bringing together discrete yet interrelated bodies of work created by Tara Donovan throughout 2019 and 2020. Based in Donovan’s rigorous investigatory methods and aggregative logic, the exhibition’s drawings, wall-bound pieces, and free standing sculptures transform commonplace materials into totalities that test our perceptual limits. Intermediaries also articulates the artist’s ever-deepening exploration of art’s capacity to mediate phenomenological encounters that interconnect viewers to one another and their environment. The exhibition will take place on the first floor and library of 540 West 25th Street in Chelsea and run through March 6, 2021.

A new sculpture rises in Carmel

Naomi had a different idea. “That looks like COVID,” she said.  I laughed. ”Well, that probably wasn’t what the sculptor meant. These sculptures are commissioned many months in advance.” “But COVID’s been going on for almost a year!” The sculpture is the 45th installed in Carmel, at a cost of $209,200, according to The Indianapolis Star.  Naomi doesn’t like the roundabouts. The city of Carmel has more than 125 of them and she claims they make her nauseous when I drive her around them. As the one who will soon be teaching this 16-year-old how to drive, and drive around the roundabouts, this is a cause for concern.
