Lilly Foundation invests in Indy Cultural Trail expansion

(Inside INdiana Business) – Indianapolis Cultural Trail Inc. has announced that the Eli Lilly and Co. Foundation is making a $1 million grant to support the expansion of the Indianapolis Cultural Trail. Plans for the $30 million project include the addition of two miles of pathway to the eight-mile trail. The nonprofit organization says the project is expected to be completed in 2022. “The last year has highlighted the important role the Indianapolis Cultural Trail plays in promoting physical and mental well being by providing our community access to free, accessible and safe open space,” said Kären Haley, Indianapolis Cultural Trail, Inc executive director. “This generous investment from the Lilly Foundation will allow even more people to take advantage of the Trail and will better connect our city’s thriving neighborhoods.”

300 artists sought for March Madness experience in Indy

Feb 11, 2021 / 07:45 PM EST INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) In a matter of weeks, downtown Indianapolis will be filled with all kinds of music and art during the NCAA men’s basketball tournament. Organizers of a big art project are looking to hire more than 300 people to create during March Madness. “We can’t wait to be back to some live performance and the opportunity to experience some of what we’ve been missing,” said Julie Goodman, president and chief executive officer of the Arts Council of Indianapolis. Spearheading the initiative, the council wants put a spotlight on local artists who’ve been impacted by the coronavirus pandemic for the visitors coming to the Circle City for basketball. The organizers say they also hope the events will promote the city.
