Cook said multiple people were injured, and many drove themselves to area hospitals for treatment. IMPD did not have any idea how many people were injured, asking for people to contact the police department if they were injured in the shooting. Ambulances took at least eight people to hospitals, and two others were treated by medics at the facility.
Indianapolis police planned to have another news conference Friday morning.
IMPD was sent to reports of shots fired and an active shooter shortly before 11:10 p.m. Thursday at 8951 Mirabel Road. That’s the address of the FedEx facility in a commercial area with a few hotels and multiple warehouses just south of the I-70 interchange at AmeriPlex Parkway.

Indianapolis [US], April 16 (ANI): Eight people were killed in a mass shooting at an Indianapolis FedEx facility on Thursday night (local-time).
The information about the shooting was shared by Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department spokeswoman Genae Cook, reported CNN.
Authorities were aware of multiple other injured victims in hospitals, one of whom was in critical condition, she said during a media briefing early Friday.
Police believe the shooter took his own life and there is no active threat to the community at this time, Cook said.
It is unclear what motivated the shooting, but investigations are ongoing and will continue into most of the day Friday, she said, reported CNN.

Eight people were killed and at least seven others were injured in a shooting at a FedEx warehouse in Indianapolis late Thursday, and the gunman was believed to have killed himself, the police said.
Officer Genae Cook of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department told reporters Friday morning that at least five other people had been hospitalized with injuries, including one in critical condition. Two others were treated at the scene and released. She said employees at the facility were still being interviewed by detectives and might not have had the chance to contact their families.
Earlier, Officer Cook had asked people who had been unable to reach family members who worked at the warehouse to gather at a nearby Holiday Inn Express, adding that representatives of the chaplain’s office of the police department would be there to assist them.
