Whether it s shopping or entertainment, there s activities going on this weekend for the whole family. Here are some of the things going on this weekend:
1. Enjoy a play: OBU Theatre will present “The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane” at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and at 2:20 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in Shawnee Hall’s Craig-Dorland Theatre on the university’s campus in Shawnee. Tickets are now on sale online at okbu.edu/theatre. Adults are $12 and students are $5. Advance purchase is required as seats will be assigned in family/friend groups to maintain physical distancing.
2. Watch some racing: The Red Dirt Raceway in Meeker will have a free night beginning at 7:30 p.m. Friday. The track is located on the north side of Meeker on Highway 18. Find more information on the official website, RedDirtRaceway.com.

The City of Shawnee has been working with Central Disposal for its annual Trash Off and Spring Clean Up day.
On Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., the City of Shawnee and Central Disposal will have large roll-off containers at five sites for Shawnee residents to bring non-hazardous waste.
The only site accepting hazardous waste is the Public Works center, at 111 S. Kickapoo.
To dispose of hazardous waste, residents will have to provide proof of an active sanitation account with the City of Shawnee/Central Disposal and an ID/drivers license with a current Shawnee address will be required.

The second weekend in March is a great time to support the arts. The Community Art Gallery will be hosting a Spring Fling event, and Shawnee Little Theatre is ending its long intermission, performing its first play since February of 2020. There will also be a chance to hunt for unique items at the expo center. Here are some of the things going on in Shawnee this weekend:
1. Support community theater: Shawnee Little Theatre has finally ended its long intermission. The community theater will be presenting “A Doll s House, Part 2” this weekend. Shows will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. Masks are required, and only 40% of the theater s capacity will be sold to allow social distancing. However, the performance will also be streamed online for those who can t make it to the theater in person. The play contains some adult language.
