To help hospitals transition to more same-day discharge after elective percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), the American College of Cardiology (ACC) released a checklist on deciding whether an overnight stay is necessary.
Among those factors, it noted, same-day discharge programs must make sure of the safety of the patient by considering:
Availability of a caregiver if needed
Complications during PCI
Plans made for prescription of antithrombotic medications, referral to cardiac rehab

Drinking by the numbers: Americans and alcohol
Although Dry January, Sober October, and sober-curious conversations and trials are on the rise, most Americans still imbibe. But the real impact of this news? The real clincher? Hospitals need retail pharmacy if they re going to focus on reducing re-admissions, eliminating unnecessary healthcare costs and avoiding those penalties.

It was the middle of hockey season, so he brushed his symptoms off. After what seemed like two or three months of a cough and fatigue, his cold progressed. I didn t even have the energy to stand to brush my teeth, he told USA TODAY.
Millar s heart was in failure, he later found out. Heart failure often caused by myocarditis,
an inflammation of the heart muscle is a rare condition for teens and young adults. It s more common in older people, often the result of heart function declining over a period of years.
