Absent-Minded Nurse gives Woman 6 Doses of Vaccine

By Conway Crew May 11, 2021 A 23-year-old Italian woman got quite a scare after a distracted nurse injected her with six doses of Pfizer s coronavirus vaccine, health officials say. The accidental overdose occurred Sunday in Tuscany, according to the Italian Health Ministry. The patient was observed for 24 hours after receiving the overfilled shot and displayed no adverse reactions, doctors say. The patient did not have fever and did not have any pain except for pain at the inoculation site, nor any other manifestations, says Dr. Antonella Vicenti. She was a bit frightened, thus we preferred to keep her here until this morning.

WHO official denies lying to Italy prosecutors over report | iNFOnews | Thompson-Okanagan s News Source

Nicole Winfield May 10, 2021 - 11:16 PM ROME - A top World Health Organization official has strongly denied making false statements to Italian prosecutors about a spiked U.N. report into Italy’s coronavirus response, doubling down on his assertions in court documents obtained by The Associated Press. Dr. Ranieri Guerra, a WHO special adviser, outlined his position in a 40-page response, with a 495-page annex, to prosecutors who placed him under investigation last month for having allegedly made false statements to them when he was questioned Nov. 5. The prosecutors’ claims create a picture “that is quite different from the reality of the facts and above all, are imprecise and don’t adhere to the reconstruction of events that Dr. Guerra provided,” said the response signed by Guerra’s Rome-based attorney, Roberto De Vita.

The Latest: France welcomes EU curb on AstraZeneca vaccine

The Latest: France welcomes EU curb on AstraZeneca vaccine PARIS French President Emmanuel Macron welcomed the decision from the European Union not to renew its order for the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine. Macron said the EU policy is aiming at “responding in particular to the variants… We see that some other vaccines are more efficient.” The bloc’s Internal Market Commissioner, Thierry Breton, said Sunday the EU Commission has not ordered AstraZeneca shots for after June. Two weeks ago, the EU launched legal proceedings against the pharmaceutical group for allegedly failing to respect the terms of its contract. South Africa halted earlier this year the use of the AstraZeneca vaccine after preliminary data indicated it may be only minimally effective against the variant which is dominant in the country.
