Washington expected to get more than 101,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine next week

OLYMPIA, Wash. More than 30,000 doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine have been given to health workers across Washington since the state first received the vaccine last week, and thousands of more doses are on the way. We are thrilled with this progress in such a short time, health officials said in a prepared statement Wednesday.
This week, the state Department of Health (DOH) distributed a total of 172,750 doses of the vaccine to health providers to be given to at-risk health workers. The state received 44,850 doses of Pfizer s vaccine and 127,900 doses of Moderna s vaccine, which was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration late last we

The Washington State Department of Health Wednesday provided an update on the state’s COVID-19 vaccine distribution and administration efforts.
Last week, providers across the state began administering initial doses of COVID-19 vaccine to high-risk health workers, and now, more than 30,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine have been administered, the state said. This week, the state allocated 44,850 Pfizer doses and 127,900 Moderna doses. That includes:
153,925 doses distributed to more than 220 sites in 37 counties
18,825 doses distributed to support long-term care facilities as well as 14 tribes and Urban Indian Health Programs
Snohomish County will be receiving 14,200 doses of the Moderna vaccine this week.

The Washington state Department of Health reported 1,681 new cases of COVID-19 and 89 deaths Wednesday.
As of Wednesday, DOH began adding people who have tested positive for COVID-19 using an antigen test to its daily case total. About 5% of case totals come from the antigen test, said state health officer Kathy Lofy.
Pierce County reported 165 cases Wednesday and two new deaths. Pierce County has a total of 263 deaths likely caused by COVID-19 as of Wednesday, according to the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department.
Whatcom sees 66 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Thursday, 975 vaccine doses, state reports

Dec. 18 Whatcom County recorded 66 new confirmed COVID-19 cases and eight new probable cases, according to the Washington State Department of Health Thursday, Dec. 17. No additional deaths were reported for Whatcom County
Whatcom County now has seen 3,042 confirmed cases, and 52 related deaths during the pandemic, according to state data as of 11:59 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 16. That means that 1.7% of the Whatcom residents who have tested positive for COVID during the pandemic have died.
An additional eight probable cases have been reported in Whatcom County during the pandemic resulting from positive antigen tests, but those cases were not confirmed by a molecular test.
