Qureshi briefs Saudi FM on latest Kashmiri situation, violations

Daily Times FM shares Pakistan’s consistent efforts to support peace, reconciliation process in Afghanistan May 8, 2021 Minister for Foreign Affairs Shah Mahmood Qureshi met his Saudi counterpart Prince Faisal bin Farhan and reviewed the entire gamut of bilateral relations, discussing ways to enhance cooperation in diverse areas. Foreign Minister Qureshi is currently accompanying Prime Minister Imran Khan during his three-day visit to Saudi Arabia, at the invitation of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. During the meeting, Pakistan and Saudi ministers reaffirmed their mutual desire to further strengthen cordial relations between the two countries. The two foreign ministers welcomed signing of agreement on establishing Pakistan Saudi Arabia Supreme Coordination Council co-chaired by the prime minister and Saudi crown prince. They also exchanged views on regional and global issues of mutual interest.

Globally, it is the second-most populous country after China and, by landmass, the seventh-largest. Both Pakistan and Bangladesh are distinct from their neighbour, despite sharing a common history, culture and languages. To a larger extend, so do Nepal and Sri Lanka. Less so Bhutan and the Maldives. Yet real differences are borne of the prevailing political tensions that are the result of India’s pursuit of regional dominance. For superpower tendencies have resulted in subcontinental divisions, even within India itself, where commonalities are underestimated or even denied.
