TARAR KHAL, AJK: Prime Minister Imran Khan Friday promised the people of Kashmir that his government will hold a referendum in which they could choose to join Pakistan or become an independent state.
Addressing an election campaign rally here, he rubbished talk of him wishing to turn Azad Jammu and Kashmir into a new province of Pakistan . I do not know where all this talk has sprung from, he said, dismissing any such idea. But what I want to make clear now is that in 1948, there were two United Nations Security Council resolutions which granted the people of Kashmir the right to decide their future. According to the UN resolutions, the people have to decide whether they want to join Hindustan or Pakistan.

MUZAFFARABAD: Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz Saturday said the ‘selected’ leader in Pakistan was neither respected at home nor abroad adding that the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Kashmir (IIOJ&K) will win their freedom under the leadership of Muhammad Nawaz Sharif. India under pressure to talk to Pakistan on Kashmir

ISLAMABAD: Narendra Modi, India’s prime minister, held talks with top pro-Indian politicians from Indian Illegally Occupied Kashmir (IIOJ&K) on Thursday to discuss restoring democracy to the Muslim-majority region, as he seeks to deflect criticism of the country’s human rights record and improve relations with Pakistan.
“The agenda is to firstly open a line of communication with the mainstream leaders of IIOJ&K to bring them back into the democratic fold,” an Indian official said on Thursday. The restoration of an elected government in IIOJ&K is seen as crucial for India if it is to maintain momentum in back-channel talks with Pakistan, foreign media reported. The nuclear-armed neighbours have fought three wars over the mountainous region.
