(Image Source: IANS) Updated: Jul 9, 2021, 10:25 AM IST The Chief scientist of the World Health Organisation (WHO) Dr Soumya Swaminathan has said that the overall efficacy of Covaxin is quite high and the phase-3 trials of the vaccine look good. The Hyderabad-based vaccine maker Bharat Biotech had a pre-submission meeting on June 23 and now it is awaiting a nod for an emergency-use listing (EUL) from WHO.

COVID: India reports 43,393 fresh cases, over 44,000 recoveries in 24 hours. India recorded 43,393 new cases of the novel coronavirus, along with 911 deaths due to the infection in the past 24 hours.Â According to the data shared by the Union Health Ministry on Friday, the country saw a total of 44,459 discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total recovery to 2,98,88,284. Â The total active cases of COVID-19 in India have now mounted to 4,58,727, the data showed.Â The total death toll in the country is now at 4,05,939.Â In India, the first death due to COVID pandemic was reported in March 2020.Â According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 42,70,16,605 samples have been tested up to July 08 for COVID-19. Of these 17,90,708 samples were tested on Thursday.

COVID-19: India reports 43,393 new cases; recovery rate increases to 97.19 percent ANI | Updated: Jul 09, 2021 10:34 IST New Delhi [India], July 9 (ANI): India reported 43,393 new COVID-19 cases, 44,459 recoveries and 911 deaths in the last 24 hours, according to the Union Health Ministry on Friday. With this, total cases mounted to 3,07,52,950 including 4,58,727 active cases and 2,98,88,284 recoveries. The death toll is at 4,05,939 including the new deaths. The active cases constitute 1.49 percent of the total cases. The recovery rate has increased to 97.19 percent. The weekly positivity rate remains below 5 percent and is currently at 2.36 percent. The daily positivity rate is at 2.42 percent, remaining less than 3 percent for 18 consecutive days.
