Cumulatively, 99,434,862 persons in the age group 18-44 years across 37 States/UTs have received their first dose and a total of 2,712,794 have received their second dose since the start of Phase-3 of the vaccination drive.

India s active cases also dropped further by 10,183 and it now stands at 485,350. While, 52,299 people recovered, pushing the total number of recoveries to 29,658,078, the Union Health Ministry data showed. The national COVID-19 recovery rate improved to 97.09 percent. The daily positivity rate was recorded at 2.34 percent. It has been less than 5 percent for 27 consecutive days, the ministry said. The weekly positivity rate has declined to 2.44 percent, it added. Recoveries continue to outnumber daily new cases for the 52nd consecutive day. According to a statement from Health Department, Chepauk-Triplicane MLA Udhayanidhi Stalin kicked off the drive at a UPHC in Cuddalore. Health Minister Ma Subramanian said that the drive has begun all over the State. “We have used more than 1.5 crore vaccines given by the Centre. We are also working on spreading awareness to bring more people to the vaccination centres,” the Minister said.

India recorded 43,071 new cases of the novel coronavirus, along with 955 deaths due to the infection in the past 24 hours. According to the data shared by the Union Health Ministry on Sunday, the country saw a total of 52,299 discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total recovery to 2,96,58,078.   The total active cases of COVID-19 in India have now mounted to 4,85,350, the data showed. The total death toll in the country is now at 4,02,005.  The first death due to Covid-19 pandemic in India was reported last year in March.  According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 41,82,54,953 samples have been tested up to July 03 for Covid-19. Of these 18,38,490 samples were tested on Saturday.
