LDF nominees to head 44 local bodies in Kozhikode district
The presidents and vice presidents of 70 grama panchayats took the oath of office in Kozhikode district on Wednesday.
At the end of political negotiations and strategic alliance, the Left Democratic Front (LDF) nominees emerged as heads in 44 out of the 70 grama panchayats.
When Communist Party of India (Marxist) nominees took the majority of 42 posts, Kunnamangalam and Cheruvannur panchayat were given to Loktantrik Janata Dal (LJD) and the Communist Party of India (CPI) as part of the political understanding within the Left Democratic Front (LDF).

Dispute over president post ends UDF’s 40-year reign
The Left Democratic Front (LDF) seized power in the Naduvil panchayat after four decades despite the United Democratic Front (UDF) winning 11 of the 19 seats.
Differences between leaders over the president post led to the UDF losing power in the panchayat. Baby Ottampallil of the ‘I’ group in the Congress contested against Alex Chunayammakal, the official candidate belonging to the ‘A’ group.
The LDF backed Mr. Ottampallil, which helped it win power in the panchayat by 11 votes to eight. Seven members of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), three members of the ‘I’ group, and a Congress rebel voted for Mr. Ottampallil. The LDF came to power by 11 votes to eight.

The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) has announced its presidential and vice presidential candidates for the Malappuram District Panchayat and block panchayats. IUML district president and parliamentary party chairman Sayed Sadikali Shihab Thangal made the announcement here on Tuesday. The elections to the three-tier panchayats will take place on Wednesday.
M.K. Rafeeka is the United Democratic Front (UDF)’s candidate for District Panchayat President. Ismail Moothedam is the candidate for the vice president. Sareena Haseeb and Naseeba Thappy will be IUML’s standing committee chairpersons in the District Panchayat. The UDF has won 27 of the 32 seats in the District Panchayat.

My primary focus will be on dealing with the problems of the common people. Also, I aim to make this city a paradise for artists. This city is seeing a lot of cultural change. Also, I aim to reduce waste in Kochi. Thus, I will try to do things as transparently as possible.
