UDF launched communal campaign, says LDF candidate Swaraj
The Communist Party of India (Marxist) is mulling over legal recourse against what they allege was a communally-loaded election campaign run by the victorious United Democratic Front candidate in the Thripunithura Assembly constituency. K. Babu of the Congress defeated the Left Democratic Front candidate M. Swaraj by 992 votes.
The party said that there had been instances in which entry to all women in Sabarimala and Mr. Swaraj’s speech in that connection was used communally in the electioneering. Such a graffiti was reported with cVigil, a mobile app launched by the Election Commission of India for fast-track complaint reception and redress system.

Section of party leaders had revolted against Abdul Gafoor’s candidature
The internal discord in the district unit of the Indian Union Muslim League has intensified with the defeat of the party candidate V.E. Abdul Gafoor in the Kalamassery constituency in the elections.
A section of the party leaders had earlier openly revolted against the candidature of Mr. Gafoor, son of former Minister, Ibrahim Kunju, who was arrested in the Palarivattom flyover case. The defeat of Mr. Gafoor in the constituency, the only seat in the Central and Southern Kerala where the party contested, has added credence to the arguments of the faction in the party, which was opposed to Mr. Kunju.

Communist Party of India (Marxist) acting State secretary A. Vijayaraghavan said there was no ambiguity in the anti-Pinarayi Vijayan government political line publicly articulated by the Nair Service Society (NSS) leadership on polling day on April 6.
When pressed that newspersons had misinterpreted NSS general secretary Sukumaran Nair’s controversial public appeal on the polling day as anti-government, Mr. Vijayaraghavan said: “The NSS leadership was vehemently opposed to a second term for the Left Democratic Front. However, NSS members themselves rejected their leadership’s line and voted overwhelmingly for the LDF. NSS supporters realised that their leadership’s inexplicable antipathy to the LDF was hardly conducive to retarding the pandemic, ensuring development, and rescuing the State from economic collapse”.

AAA The Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] has alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) overtly and covertly helped the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) candidates in Kozhikode district.
A statement said here on Monday that the vote share of the BJP came down in two Assembly constituencies, Vadakara and Koduvally, which were won by the UDF-backed Revolutionary Marxist Party of India (RMPI) and the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) respectively.
In the 2020 local body polls, the BJP secured 18,555 votes in the district panchayat division of Vadakara. But now the party candidate got only 10,225 votes. Likewise, in the 2016 Assembly polls, the BJP received 13,410 votes in Vadakara segment.

Party succeeds in recapturing Koduvally by fielding Muneer
The experiment of Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) in fielding independent candidates to capture Perambra and Kunnamangalam in Kozhikode district in the Assembly polls turned out to be a damp squib, failing to evoke a positive response from the electorate in both these constituencies.
In Perambra, the IUML roped in businessman and philanthropist C.H. Ibrahim Kutty to stand as the United Democratic Front (UDF) independent against CPI(M) leader and Excise Minister T.P. Ramakrishnan. Mr. Kutty not only lost the polls but also made a dent in the vote share of the Congress-led coalition.
