Thiruvananthapuram, April 14 : The unexpected resignation of Kerala Higher Education Minister K.T. Jaleel, often known as the blue eyed boy of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan shows that all s not well in the CPI-M in Kerala.
Jaleel, though not a CPI-M card holder, right from the time he turned giant killer by outsmarting the top Indian Union Muslim League leader and former Minister P.K. Kunhalikutty in 2006, has become very close to the Chief Minister and it became stronger when Vijayan decided to include Jaleel when he undertook the state-wide rally just before the 2016 assembly elections.

Kerala minister for higher education and minorities welfare K.T. Jaleel resigned from the state cabinet on Tuesday, days after the Lokayukta found him guilty of nepotism in appointing a relative to a government position.
Although Jaleel had approached Kerala High Court to quash the Lokayukta order, he resigned before the case came up. He announced his decision in a Facebook message describing it as a “temporary relief for those who wants to suck my blood”.
The Muslim Youth League, the youth arm of Indian Union Muslim League, had in November 2018 filed a complaint against Jaleel for allegedly flouting rules to appoint his cousin K.T. Adeeb as the general manager of Kerala State Minorities Development Finance Corporation.

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Minister K T Jaleel, who resigned on Tuesday over adverse remarks against him by the state Lokayukta for abusing his position as a public servant, said he has been a victim of “unjustified media harassment” for the last two years.
Jaleel earlier in the day sent his resignation to the Chief Minister which was forwarded to the Governor who accepted it.
A division bench of the Lokayukta had on Friday submitted the report against Jaleel to the Chief Minister and had held that the allegation of abuse of power, favouritism and nepotism against the minister was proved.
