Indian River names district graduate as new superintendent

PHILADELPHIA — Following the retirement of Indian River Central School District Superintendent Mary Anne Dobmeier, effective at the end of the school year, assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction for the district, Troy W. Decker, has been appointed to the position of superintendent of schools. His promotion is effective July 1. He’ll become the first Indian River graduate to hold the position, having graduated in 1990.  In his new role, he’ll earn a salary of $185,000. His current salary is $165,000. The announcement came during the district’s second January Board of Education meeting Thursday night, with board president, Thomas Lapp, sharing the news and turning the floor over to Mr. Decker to say a few words in an impromptu and heartfelt speech.
