New Delhi [India], May 13 (ANI): Indian Institute of Technology, Ropar has developed a prototype of a moveable electric cremation system which claims to be using first of its kind technology that involves smokeless cremation despite using wood, the Ministry of Education said on Thursday.
As per an official release, the moveable electric cremation uses half of the wood otherwise required for the cremation and is still eco-friendly because of the technology that uses combustion air system. It is based on wick-stove technology in which the wick when lighted glows yellow. This is converted into a smokeless blue flame with the help of combustion air system installed over the wicks, the released said.

The COVID-19 pandemic lockdown in India has resulted in environmental benefits, including a significant reduction of air pollutants such as black carbon aerosols, which can pose an adverse risk to human health, according to a new Cal State Fullerton study.
Environmental engineer Sudarshan Kurwadkar is a co-author of the research, published May 10 in the journal Air Quality, Atmosphere, and Health. The study documents how the strict coronavirus pandemic lockdown resulted in a significant reduction of atmospheric concentrations of black carbon and other air pollutants in India’s major urban cities.

A start-up by an Indian Institute of Technology alumnus has offered a free online crash course to help students give final touches to their preparations for Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) and National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for 2021.
The 45-day training from May 24 would be conducted by some top rankers of IIT and All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). The free programme through live video would be available for only 100 students post-registration for JEE and NEET, 2001, on a merit basis, a spokesperson of the start-up Edvizo said.

Panaji, May 13 : The Goa government on Thursday appointed an expert committee to streamline the oxygen supply chain to the state s apex hospital, the Goa Medical College, where nearly 50 persons died over three days due to oxygen shortage.
The committee, headed by Indian Institute of Technology-Goa Director, Dr B.K. Mishra, is tasked with ascertaining adequacy of oxygen supply to the GMC and efficiency of the oxygen supply chain, examining the process of administration of oxygen at the GMC and give recommendation for its improvement and recommend improvement in the complete chain of oxygen delivery at the GMC.
