Amit Goyal, an internationally recognized materials scientist and director of the UB’s RENEW Institute, was elected a fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), a professional organization dedicated to advancing technology and fostering technological innovation for the benefit of humanity.
The honor recognizes Goyal “for contributions to high-temperature superconducting materials.”
The designation is conferred by the IEEE Board of Directors upon scientists with an outstanding record of accomplishments in IEEE fields of interest. The total number selected in any one year cannot exceed one-tenth of 1% of the total voting membership. IEEE fellowship is the highest grade of membership and is recognized by the technical community as a prestigious honor and an important career achievement.
JNPT opens ‘air quality monitoring station’ to secure green port status

State-run Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) has opened a Continuous Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Station (CAAQMS) at the port operation centre as it pushes ahead with sustainability goals and secure green port status.
The CAAQMS will monitor real-time air quality parameters like Particulate Matter, Sulphur Dioxide, Nitrogen Dioxide, Ammonia, Ozone, CO, NOx, NO and VOCs.
Besides, weather-related data such as temperature, rainfall, humidity, solar radiation, wind speed and direction will also be monitored at the station. The CAAQMS will also generate real-time continuous air quality data, which will be displayed to the public on the large screen. These values will be displayed on the JNPT website for easy access to the public.
GATE 2021 admit card: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay will release the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2021 admit card today. GATE 2021 will be on February 5,6, 7,12,13 and 14, 2021, in two shifts (forenoon and afternoon) for which, 860,000 candidates have registered. The results for GATE 2021 examination is scheduled to be announced on March 22, 2021.

MUMBAI: The admit card for the national level Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) exam will be released today. According to the latest updates on the exam, students who have submitted online applications for appearing for the test can download the admit card from Friday.
Notably, the admit card or hall ticket for sitting in the exam will be available for download at the official website
gate.iitb.ac.in Applying students can visit the IIT Bombay website and download their respective admit cards by inserting correct credentials such as Enrollment ID an password as entered initially while filling up the application form.
