Bharat Biotech’s COVID-19 vaccine: Phase 1 trials find no serious adverse events India Published: Thursday, December 17, 2020, 8:42 [IST] New Delhi, Dec 17: The first homegrown Indian vaccine against COVID-19 has shown robust immune responses with barely any serious side-effects, according to the first scientific study of human trials of the vaccine. The vaccine that is developed jointly by Bharat Biotech, Hyderabad and the Indian Council of Medical Research, popularly known as Covaxin was administered to 300 people. The results from these inoculations were compared to the results from 75 other subjects, who did not receive the vaccine. The immune responses gave hints of long time efficacy and the the vaccine was administered in three doses. The research was carried out by Bharat Biotech, ICMR and the All Indian Institute of Medical Sciences, Delhi, along with doctors from other hospitals where the trials were conducted.

In the face of the indefinite strike by nursing staff, patients families outside the emergency ward stand clueless about what is to be done. Abhishek, a patient s family member outside the emergency ward, told ANI, We have not been allowed to meet our patient inside. We can see the nurses strike is going on. Mysterious Disease in Eluru: Hunt on for lead source that may have caused Andhra Pradesh mystery illness | Amaravati News

HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh government will begin an operation to look for possible sources of contamination that could have led to the mystery disease in Eluru town of the state that has left nearly 600 people ill and one dead. AP health authorities said lead and pesticides, along with other probable sources, are being looked into as possible cause of the illness. AP health commissioner K Bhaskar said vegetables, fruits, soil and all other probable sources are being examined. Bhaskar said the mass convulsions and the subsequent decrease of lead content in the blood of patients after being admitted indicate it’s a case of acute exposure and not chronic exposure.
