MOSCOW, April 5 (Reuters) - Belarus’s potash monopoly has raised prices by 13% in a potash supply contract with India signed earlier this year, the Belarus Potash Company (BPC) said on Monday, signalling a stronger outlook for potash producers.
BPC, a trading arm of Belaruskali, the world’s largest producer of the crop nutrient, signed its annual potash supply contract for 800,000 tonnes with India’s largest importer of the product, Indian Potash Limited, in January.
BPC renegotiated the contract price to $280 per tonne from the previous $247 a tonne on a cost and freight basis “within the framework of close partnership,” it said in a statement.

Nutrien Ltd. (TSX and NYSE: NTR), the world s largest full-service producer of crop inputs and services and largest potash producer, announced today that it is fully aligned with Canpotex s view that the new price announced between Indian Potash Limited (IPL) and Belarusian Potash Company (BPC) is significantly below market price levels for potash in key offshore markets. We understand that the Potash agreement with India was settled at the highest government level with limited commercial involvement, said Ken Seitz, Executive Vice President and CEO, Nutrien Potash. This contract price in no way reflects the market-based pricing in the current key offshore potash markets which, like other fertilizers, is being supported by strong global crop fundamentals. Nutr
