This time for far better reasons.  Ghosh provided arguably the defining image of the violence allegedly carried out by ABVP activists at JNU in December 2019 — visuals showed blood streaming down her face as she was being rushed to hospital before she defiantly turned up with a bandaged head later.

Ranchi: The Jharkhand Rajya Kisan Sangharsh Samanvaya Samiti (JRKSSS) is planning to hold kisan mahapanchayats across the state ahead of the Bharat bandh called by Sanyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) later this month to ensure the strike’s success. “Our organization will gear up for the nationwide protest by holding kisan mahapanchyats across the state. The Bharat bandh will be historic day in Jharkhand,” JRKSSS convenor Sufal Mahto said on Thursday. JRKSSS has already held meetings to discuss ways to make the strike a success. Besides the Bharat bandh on March 26, SKM has planned an array of activities this month to register their protest against the central farm laws. On March 19, SKM and its affiliated units will hold demonstrations at local markets “to save agriculture”. Farmers from across the country will gather at the Delhi borders to mark the martyrdom day of Shahid Bhagat Singh on March 23. On March 28, the farmers would burn copies of the new farm laws.

Ghosh is probably the first sitting JNUSU president to contest assembly elections. Member of CPM’s student wing SFI, she became the president in 2019. The top post was claimed by the SFI after a 13-year gap though it was a Left coalition at work. Ghosh graduated in political science from Delhi University’s Daulat Ram College. She was involved in student politics from her college days. She moved to JNU for her masters. Aishe was at JNU stir when candidature announced The 2020 fee hike protest had started during her tenure as president, but it was after the January 5 violence when she received injury in the head and hand that she gained larger prominence. Ghosh led from the front demanding justice and action against the perpetrators.
