Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Sunday said the Modi government ensured that Pakistan remains on the grey list of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).
According to Indian media reports, Indian FM Jaishankar while addressing a training program on foreign policy of Modi government accepted that “it was due to the Modi government’s efforts that Pakistan was retained on the FATF grey list”. “Due to us, Pakistan is under the lens of the FATF and it was kept in the grey list,” Jaishankar was quoted as saying by Indian media.
The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) had last month announced that Pakistan will remain on its grey list till October 2021. The terror financing watchdog had lauded the country’s significant progress in implementing 26 of the 27 action items in the 2018 action plan.

India on Sunday finally admitted that the Narendra Modi government had “ensured” that Pakistan remained on the grey list of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).
Last month, the FATF – the global body working to combat financing of terrorism and money laundering – had announced its decision to retain Pakistan on its grey list despite the country meeting 26 of the 27 conditions and handed it over a new six-point action plan, keeping Islamabad exposed to global pressure tactics.
“Due to us, Pakistan is under the lens of FATF and it was kept in the grey list,” Indian news agency ANI quoted Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar as saying while addressing a virtual training programme on the foreign policy for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders.

ISLAMABAD: The Foreign Office (FO) on Monday slammed Indian minister’s statement, admitting that it played role in keeping Pakistan on the grey list of Financial Action Task Force (FATF).
“Indian statement not only exposes its true colors but also vindicates Pakistan’s longstanding stance on India’s negative role in FATF,” said FO Spokesperson Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri after Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar admitted that Pakistan is on the FATF grey list because of the efforts of Narendra Modi s government. .
