Diplomatic engagement between Dhaka and New Delhi has gained momentum ahead of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Bangladesh, which will take place on March 26-27.
This will be the Indian Prime Minister’s first visit to a foreign country since the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic.
Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will arrive in Dhaka on Thursday to prepare the ground for Modi s upcoming visit aiming to further strengthen bilateral ties.
In Dhaka, Jaishankar is scheduled to hold talks with his Bangladeshi counterpart AK Abdul Momen on a range of bilateral and regional issues.
His visit is taking place nearly three months after Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi held a virtual summit in December 17 during which they had “directed the officials to expeditiously conclude the ongoing joint study on the prospects of entering into a bilateral Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (

NEW DELHI, Mar 03, 2021 (BSS) â Alongside Bangabandhu Memorial in Tungipara, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to visit Orakandi, a sacred shrine of âMatuaâ community in Gopalganj and âSatipithâ in Shikarpur, Barishal during his upcoming Bangladesh visit.
Modi is set to visit Bangladesh on March 26-27 at the invitation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to join the 50th anniversary celebration of Independence of Bangladesh, the Birth Centenary of Bangabandhu and the 50th year of Bangladesh-India diplomatic ties.
The Indian Premier is set to visit Bangabandhu memorial in Tungipara to pay homage to Bangladeshâs Founding Father Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on March 27 and on the same day he is expected to visit Orakandi temple and âSatipithâ.

Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar arrives in Dhaka this morning to prepare the groundwork for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Bangladesh scheduled for March 26.
He is coming to Dhaka at the invitation of his Bangladeshi counterpart AK Abdul Momen for a brief but important trip as all eyes are now fixed on the Indian premier’s upcoming visit. This will be Modi’s first trip to any foreign country since the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic.
Bangladesh, which is set to celebrate the golden jubilee of its independence, looks forward to the Indian prime minister’s visit this month to take forward the bilateral relations to the next level.
