Central government think tank NITI Aayog has appreciated the landmark transformation of the government schools as they have secured the top score in the think tank s India Innovation Index 2020.
The index said that given the high income levels of Delhi and the transformation of the government schools system, Delhi has reported the highest National Achievement Survey (NAS) score of 44.73.
Karnataka retains top spot on innovation index
Skilled human resource, ease of doing business, legalities, knowledge dissemination, health and education are some of the parameters considered to decide the ranking.

BENGALURU: Karnataka has retained the top position in the innovation index for a second year in a row, a pointer to its strength in maintaining the leadership position. The state’s innovation score of 42.5 was way above the average score of 25.35 among the major states. Maharashtra was in second place with a score of 38 and Bihar in the last place with just 14.5. Among City States and Union Territories, Delhi topped list.
BHUBANESWAR: Odisha dropped to 14th position in the second edition of India Innovation Index, 2020, released by NITI Aayog on Wednesday even as Karnataka continued to occupy top spot. The state had secured 12th rank in the first edition of the index launched in October 2019.
States were ranked on innovation capabilities and performance. “The ranking is being done to promote competitive federalism among all states and union territories to catalyse innovation outcome of the nation,” said an official statement.
States like Maharashtra, Telangana, Kerala, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal have performed better than Odisha in the innovation rankings.
