It has also made it mandatory for travellers arriving from UK in transit flights to undergo RT-PCR test. Through Twitter, the Ministry of Civil Aviation informed that passengers arriving from UK in all transit flights should be subject to mandatory COVID-19 testing.

NEW DELHI: The sixth edition of the India International Science Festival (IISF 2020) will be inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi on Tuesday. The four-day festival will be held on digital platforms till December 25. RSS-linked science body Vigyan Bharati is the knowledge partner of the department of science and technology for IISF. The DST, in collaboration with other central ministries, has been organising this annual event since 2015. The theme for this year’s festival is ‘Science for Self-Reliant India and Global Welfare’. “This year, the IISF will begin on the birth anniversary of Srinivasa Ramanujan (December 22), world-renowned Indian mathematician, and culminate on the birth anniversary of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee (December 25),” Union minister Harsh Vardhan said. The concluding session of IISF will be addressed by V-P Venkaiah Naidu.

On its official Twitter account, the Civil Aviation Ministry said that the flights will be suspended from December 22 (23.59 hours) till December 31, 2020. In a follow-up tweet, it said, “As a measure of abundant precaution, passengers arriving from the UK in all transit flights (flights that have taken off or flights which are reaching India before 22nd Dec at 23.59 hrs) should be subject to mandatory RT-PCR test on arrival at the airports concerned.”
