After 15 hours of talks, India says onus on China to pull back at friction points

New Delhi, Jan 25: The 9th round of the India China Corps Commander level talks ended at 2.30 am on Monday. The meeting lasted for over 15 hours and began at 11 am on Sunday at Moldo opposite Chushul in the Eastern Ladakh sector.
The talks were held after a gap of over two and half months. Officials familiar with the developments told OneIndia that the onus is on China to carry forward the process of disengagement and escalation at the friction points.

With 50,000 troops of each army deployed in the region for an indefinite period and no dialogue at the senior level, the two sides have been working to prevent any untoward incident on the ground.

New Delhi, Jan 01: China and India are in consultations to hold the ninth round of military level talks, Chinese Defence Ministry spokesman Sr. Colonel Tan Kefei said.
Tan said that the two sides have maintained consultations on disengagement of frontline troops and also strengthened the management of the border troops. China is willing to maintain communication with India through military and diplomatic channels he also said. He also added that the border area is generally stable.
This round of talks is extremely crucial as both sides are likely to work out written disengagement and de-escalation agreement. When asked as to what could be delaying the talks, officials familiar with the developments said that it could be due to the change in guard on the Chinese side with a newly appointed PLA Western Theatre Commander General Zhang Xudong.
