School officials dispute those contentions.
The claims are contained in legal papers filed by former Lake Central student wrestler Josh Daniels, who now is part of the Chesterton High School wrestling team. Daniels made the claims as part of his case seeking eligibility to continue competing in the state wrestling tournament following his move from Lake Central to Chesterton.
A legal motion alleges Daniels was physically slammed by the head wrestling coach and rendered unconscious for 30 to 60 seconds.
According to the legal filings, the mother of a fellow wrestler told an Indiana High School Athletic Association review committee on Jan. 14 she reported the matter to Lake Central Principal Sean Begley in August. At that time, she said she felt the school s response was very dismissive, the legal filings states.

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) New COVID-19 data has been released by the Indiana State Department of Health.
ISDH says 1,733 more Hoosiers have tested positive for COVID-19. Those tests were recorded on Jan. 31.
A total of 628,391 Hoosiers have tested positive for COVID-19.
ISDH says 16 more Hoosiers have died from COVID-19. The deaths occurred between Jan. 27 and Jan. 31.
A total of 9,613 Hoosiers have died from COVID-19. Another 376 “probable” deaths have occurred, but a positive test is not on record.
The 7-day positivity rate of unique individuals stands at 16.7%. The 7-day positivity rate of all tests is 8.3%.
There are currently 1,594 Hoosiers hospitalized with COVID-19.

(CNN) When a South Carolina drive-thru coronavirus vaccine clinic got backed up, leaving people waiting for hours, the town mayor decided to call in a professional for help: a Chick-fil-A manager.
Local hospitals in Mount Pleasant opened the clinic on January 22 for residents eligible to receive the first shots of COVID-19 vaccine. But shortly after the drive-thru opened, the computer system handling registrations went down, causing hundreds of people to wait in heavy traffic.
That’s when Jerry Walkowiak, the manager of a nearby Chick-fil-A, stepped in to save the day.
“When I heard about it, I called Jerry and asked if he would come help us out,” Mount Pleasant Mayor Will Haynie told CNN. “After he looked it over, he said, ‘There’s your problem right there. It’s backed up because you have one person checking people in.’ Then he showed us how to do it right.”

(CNN) A variant suspected of helping fuel a surge of coronavirus in Brazil’s Amazon region shows up in Minnesota. Another that’s been worrying officials in South Africa pops up in two places in South Carolina and, just days later, in Maryland.
Scientists are not surprised to see the coronavirus changing and evolving it’s what viruses do, after all. And with so much unchecked spread across the US and other parts of the world, the virus is getting plenty of opportunity to do just that.
Four of the new variants are especially worrisome.
“The variants that have been identified recently seem to spread more easily. They’re more transmissible, which can lead to increased number of cases, and increased stress on our already overtaxed system,” Dr. Rochelle Walensky, the newly appointed director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said in a briefing Wednesday.
