JOHNSON COUNTY, Ind. – The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) begins maintenance this week on a $6 million asphalt resurfacing and roadway reconstruction project along State Road 44 in Johnson and Shelby Counties. The contract also includes bridge work at Sugar Creek Overflow, east of I-65.
Starting today, Monday, April 5, through the end of May, expect lane closures with flagging, from east of Sugar Creek Overflow to State Road 9 in Shelbyville. Beginning Wednesday, April 14, INDOT says lanes will be closed through early September, from east of State Road 44 and the I-65 interchange to Sugar Creek Overflow.
On April 17, traffic will be restricted to a single lane in each direction at S.R. 44 and the I-65 interchange in Franklin for road reconstruction. In mid-June, the S.R. 44 bridge over Sugar Creek Overflow will be closed for 60 days for superstructure replacement.
