Small businesses are struggling to stay open and unemployment rates remain high. The long-awaited relief from Congress will help, but people throughout the state are having a tough time making ends meet. For many Hoosiers, material hardship makes it impossible to afford critical energy services, such as electricity to keep their lights on and natural gas to keep their homes warm.

That involves standardizing the way things like wind and solar farms are sited and taxed. At a legislative conference, Rep. Ed Soliday (R-Valparaiso) said some companies have spent millions of dollars to build a wind or solar farm in Indiana, only to have the project blocked by county laws that ban them or limit where they can be located. NIPSCO signs solar energy power agreement

NIPSCO signs solar energy power agreement   The Northern Indiana Public Service Company and the Clean Energy Infrastructure (CEI) business of Capital Dynamics have signed a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA), NIPSCO announced this morning. Under the PPA’s terms, NIPSCO will purchase 280MW of the power generated by a CEI-owned greenfield solar project called Gipson Solar, one of the projects being developed by CEI in Gibson County, Ind. Arevon Energy Management and Tenaska are co-developing this project and were instrumental in the signing of the PPA. “We are proud to partner with Capital Dynamics on the Gibson purchase power agreement,”
