How the store came into being could be considered providence. Owner Shirley Conrad said her late husband, Galon Conrad, approached her in the late 1980s about purchasing a vacant building at 101 North St. in the community of Rockton that had been home to the Rockton Community Baptist Church.
âThe building had been empty for some time and my husband said, âWe should buy that building.â I said, âWhat would we do with it?â He told her he wasnât sure, but was certain they should purchase it.

The couple was joined in holy matrimony on Nov. 28, 1970, in St. Davidâs Evangelical Lutheran Church, Davidsville. Both music education majors at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Susan was finishing her student teaching and Larry his Masters in Communication at Penn State at the time.
Since then Larry has worked at various levels in local broadcasting, taught in area colleges and continues to serve as a registered representative in the financial industry. In addition to teaching private music lessons for many years, Susan retired as choral director for Bishop McCort Catholic High School.
