Vaccines have prevented 140,000 COVID-19 deaths during the initial rollout, study finds

An estimated 140,000 COVID-19 deaths were averted during the first five months of the vaccination rollout in the U.S., according to a study conducted by Indiana University and the RAND corp. New Jersey had 9.4 fewer deaths per 10,000 adults the second-biggest reduction in the United States. Pennsylvania had 6.0 fewer deaths per 10,000 adults.
