Covid wave surges to new high with 13,468 daily cases as Delhi becomes worst hit city in country
The highest single-day spike in Mumbai stands at 9,986 cases till date, followed by Bengaluru (6,387 cases), Chennai (2,105) and Kolkata ( 1,271 cases).

NEW DELHI: Reeling under the fourth wave of COVID-19, the national capital Tuesday recorded the highest-ever spike of 13,468 cases and 81 deaths due to the infection, giving it the dubious distinction of being the worst affected city in the county.
The government has also directed that all these hospitals declared as fully Covid hospitals will not admit any non-Covid patients till further order.

New Delhi, April 12 : In view of exponential surge of Covid-19 cases in the national capital, the health department of the Delhi Government has declared as many as 14 big private hospitals as fully Covid-care centres on Monday.
The decision came hours after the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal chaired an emergency meeting in view of Covid-19 situation in the capital on Monday.
Those hospitals which are declared as fully Covid hospitals include Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, Sir Ganga Ram, Holy Family, Maharaja Agarsen Hospital (Punjabi Bagh), Max Hospital (Shalimar Bagh), Fortis Hospital (Shalimar Bagh), Venkateshwar Hospital, Sri Balaji Action Medical Institute, Jaipur Golden Hospital, Mata Chanan Devi Hospital, Pushpawati Singhania Research Institute, Manipal Hospital and Saroj Super Specialty Hospital.

Meanwhile, Delhi Govt declares 14 large private hospitals as full Covid hospitals to tackle the crisis. The national capital Delhi recorded 11,491 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, the Delhi State Health bulletin showed on Monday evening.
This is the steepest ever daily rise in new Covid-19 cases since the beginning of the pandemic last year.
As many as 72 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours,, and as many as 92,397 tests were conducted, it added.
Test positivity ratio shot up to 12.44 per cent, raising concern that the pandemic may have gone beyond control in the ongoing fourth wave.
