Kapila Vatsyayan: The Visionary Who Defined Indian Aesthetic Theory

In 2011, I was commissioned to curate an exhibition on ‘The Body in Indian Art and Thought’. The show was put on the road in 2013 with a grand opening by the president of India and the king of the Belgians at the Palais des Beaux Arts in Brussels. Only five years earlier, however, the very same venue had hosted another exhibition of Indian art called ‘Tejas’, curated by Kapila Vatsyayan.

NEW DELHI: The environment ministry s expert appraisal committee has recommended granting environment clearance to the government s ambitious Central Vista redevelopment project, but directed that its developer should ensure no air pollution is caused during the demolition of existing structures.
With the expert panel s recommendations, the project comes a step closer to getting the environment clearance (EC), to be given by the Union environment minister.
The expert appraisal committee (EAC) took the decision in a meeting held on December 17, the minutes of which were uploaded on the ministry s website on Monday.

An expert committee of the Ministry of Environment and Forest has asked the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) to submit detailed plans for the demolition of existing government buildings for its proposed redevelopment of the Central Vista, with a focus on “instant demolition” techniques to reduce pollution.
At a meeting on December 17, the MoEF Expert Appraisal Committee agreed to grant the terms of reference (ToR) for the project, as a part of the process of environment impact assessment and environment clearance. According to the minutes of the meeting published on Monday

Manipur: Indigenous martial art Thang-Ta to reach Khelo India 2021
The 2021 Games Event to be held at Haryana will also feature other indigenous games like Gatka, Kalaripayattu and Mallakhamba along with Thang-Ta.

Imphal: The Sports Ministry on Sunday announced the inclusion of Manipur s indigenous martial arts game Thang-Ta in the upcoming Khelo India Youth Games, 2021. In an attempt to promote the indigenous games of India, the Sport Ministry decided to feature Thang-Ta along with three other indigenous games from different states for the games event to be held next year in Panchkula, Haryana. Punjab s Gatka, Kerala s Kalaripayattu and Mallakhamba (Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh) are the three other indigenous games in this list.
