Booze bus-style police checkpoints will be set up across south-east Queensland to enforce the region s lockdown as the state s Covid-19 outbreak continues to grow. Queensland Police said the checkpoints would appear randomly in Brisbane and the Gold Coast to catch anyone breaking strict stay-at-home orders.   The state recorded another 16 cases of the virus on Tuesday as 11 local government areas endure a snap seven-day lockdown to slow the spread of the highly-contagious Delta variant.  Residents in those LGAs can only go out if they have an essential reason and must not travel more than 10km for exercise. QLD COVID: State records 16 new local cases as people warned to stay home

Advertisement Queensland has reported 16 new locally acquired coronavirus cases linked to the Indooroopilly Delta cluster that plunged 11 areas, including Brisbane, into an eight-day lockdown. At least nine of the latest positive cases were children. One case was linked to Indooroopilly State High School, four were linked to Brisbane Grammar, two were linked to Brisbane Girls Grammar School with a student and a teacher testing positive, three at Ironside State School, five were household or family contacts of already confirmed cases and one was a neighbour of a known case. The latest cases brings Queensland’s total number of COVID cases to 47.

So the best way to deal with someone who has no symptoms is that they just stay at home. That s why lockdowns work, because we know that the virus can burn out. So please just stay at home. Deputy Police Commissioner Steve Gollschewski said 70 infringement notices were issued and 21 people were arrested overnight. He said police will move to install RBT-style roadblocks to enforce the hard lockdown.
