Families of Jakarta plane crash victims file lawsuit against Boeing KOMO News Staff © Provided by KOMO-TV Seattle SEATTLE – A Seattle-based law firm filed a lawsuit against The Boeing Company Thursday on behalf of the families of 16 people who died in a plane crash near Jakarta in January. Herrmann Law Group filed the complaint in the King County Superior Court claiming Boeing equipment on the aircraft failed, causing the plane to crash. All 62 people on board the Boeing 737-500, which left from Jakarta on Jan. 9, died in the crash. In an investigation into the crash, the Indonesian National Transportation Safety Committee found that as the plane was taking off, the left engine throttle moved back while the right lever did not, suggesting the auto-throttle was stuck. Investigators believe this unequal thrust may have caused the plane to roll and dive into the Java Sea.
