Akron Zoo to unveil new Wild Asia area with Sumatran tigers, red pandas, white-cheeked gibbons May 29

Male Sumatran tiger Eko is one of several animals that will reside in the Akron Zoo’s new Lehner Family Foundation Wild Asia area. The area includes innovative new habitats for the zoo’s Sumatran tigers, white-cheeked gibbons and red pandas.

Milo and Parker, a bonded pair of gibbons, arrived at the Akron Zoo from the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado. The decision to add the gibbons was based on feedback from Summit County residents who wanted to see more primates at the zoo. Milo is 21-years-old and has black and white fur, while Parker, 19, has tan and white fur. The pair will reside in a large habitat that features indoor and outdoor areas. The exhibit also includes a treehouse and a slide for zoo visitors.
