RACINE — The jury who has to determine if a local man will spend the rest of his life in prison, or will be found not guilty because the shooting was justified, heard from the defendant himself Wednesday afternoon. Edward Sanders, 31, is charged with first-degree intentional homicide, a Category A felony, for the shooting death of Guillermo Martinez, then 23 years old. Martinez was shot and killed as he and two others were beating Sanders’ brother, Deangelo Herron. Sanders is additionally charged with two counts of reckless endangerment with use of a deadly weapon, a category F felony. A third count of reckless endangerment was dismissed by the court on a motion from the defense for lack of evidence.

Gerad Dougvillo to challenge Judge Larisa Benitez-Morgan in spring election

Judge Larisa Benitez-Morgan, appointed to the Kenosha County Circuit Court early this year, will have a challenger in her first run for election this spring. Benitez-Morgan was appointed to the Branch 1 seat in February, chosen by Gov. Tony Evers to fill the vacancy left by the retirement of longtime Judge David Bastianelli. She confirmed she is planning to run for election in April to try to retain the seat. Also planning to run for the seat is Kenosha resident Gerad Dougvillo. A former prosecutor in Racine County, Dougvillo has been working since 2016 as a court commissioner in Walworth County. The seat is one of two judgeships that will be up for election in April. With Judge Mary K. Wagner announcing she will step down at the end of her term, three candidates plan to run for her Branch 6 seat. Competing for Wagner’s seat are Deputy Kenosha County District Attorney Angelina Gabriele, attorney Angela Cunningham, and Elizabeth Pfeuffer, a Kenosha County court commissioner.

Police arrest 4 after Mount Pleasant robbery, pursuit By FOX6 News Digital Team Published  article MOUNT PLEASANT, Wis. - Four people were arrested in Mount Pleasant on Saturday, Dec. 19 after robbing a Best Buy, threatening others with a stun gun, and leading police on a pursuit. Mount Pleasant police said the incidents began around 10:15 a.m. when they were dispatched to respond to the robbery. An 18-year-old woman and a 17-year-old girl stole items and activated a stun gun threatening others to get out without being apprehended. There were no injuries. The two ran into a waiting vehicle in the parking lot which fled before crashing into another motorist in the parking lot. The suspect vehicle continued onto the highway and was spotted by a Sturtevant patrol quad which initiated a pursuit.
