Arima Race Club to establish long-term plan to ease $$ woes

THE ARIMA Race Club (ARC) is aiming to establish a long-term plan to ease their financial woes, in light of the current strike by local jockeys, who are claiming that they are owed monies since 2019.
There was a meeting of horse-racing stakeholders on Tuesday.
ARC president Robert Bernard remarked, “There was no resolution within the meeting but I think it went well though. These stakeholders understand the position within the Club and the industry at this time.
“It went well, with all things considered. The dialogue is continuing, which is important.”

The Waves Sub Clubs Beach Party Race Day will be the first race meet since covid restrictions were brought into place to allow ticket purchases at the gate. Bundaberg Race Club president Dale Rethamel said racegoers were excited to head trackside. He said with restrictions eased, they were expecting to welcome up to 500 people to the races. Everyone s always excited to come to the races and there have been a lot of questions about what they can and can t do, he said.

Central Queensland race clubs will receive part of $2.8 million for facility upgrades, creating more than 100 jobs across the state.
Thirty-seven of Queensland’s smallest and most remote country race clubs will each share in the infrastructure funding, Racing Minister Grace Grace announced earlier in January.
“Country racing plays a critical role in regional Queensland, contributing to economic and social wellbeing, as well as providing an important meeting hub for regional communities,” she said.
“The Palaszczuk Government’s Country Racing Program provides critical infrastructure funding across the state to improve and enhance our non-TAB racing clubs and their communities.
