JEFFERSON, Wis. - Former Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputy Janelle Gericke was sentenced on Friday, Jan. 15 to two years in prison and another three years of extended supervision. I deserve punishment, but I believe I need more help, Gericke said. The former deputy sat in court Friday, emotional as she said her addiction to opioids led her to use obituaries as a way to target homes for burglaries.

Police: Man seriously hurt after shooting in Racine; 20-year-old suspect in custody

RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) Authorities are investigating after a man was shot near MLK Drive and Albert Street in Racine late Monday, Dec. 21.  Police say the shooting happened around 10:23 p.m. The victim was taken to the hospital by an acquaintance and later transported to Froedtert Hospital in serious condition.  Hours later, a 20-year-old man was taken into custody by the Racine Police Department SWAT team.  An investigation is ongoing. Racine police investigators are interested in any additional information that anyone may have about this crime.
