Former Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputy Janelle Gericke was sentenced on Friday, Jan. 15 to two years in prison and another three years of extended supervision.
JEFFERSON, Wis. - Former Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputy Janelle Gericke was sentenced on Friday, Jan. 15 to two years in prison and another three years of extended supervision. I deserve punishment, but I believe I need more help, Gericke said.
The former deputy sat in court Friday, emotional as she said her addiction to opioids led her to use obituaries as a way to target homes for burglaries.
RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) Authorities are investigating after a man was shot near MLK Drive and Albert Street in Racine late Monday, Dec. 21.
Police say the shooting happened around 10:23 p.m. The victim was taken to the hospital by an acquaintance and later transported to Froedtert Hospital in serious condition.
Hours later, a 20-year-old man was taken into custody by the Racine Police Department SWAT team.
An investigation is ongoing.
