Sweetwater County Fire Warden Warns of Long and Dry Fire Season

SWEETWATER COUNTY With the dry and hot conditions this year, Sweetwater County Fire Warden Mike Bournazian warns the community of the extreme fire danger this season. “It is clearly a very dry year as Southwest Wyoming is in yet another drought cycle,” Bournazian said. “Wildfire Danger Ratings have already been in the ‘Very High’ category, which is early for us this time of year.” Not only did the high fire ratings start early this year but Bournazian believes conditions will last for a while. RS Council Discusses Proposed Special-Purpose Tax Projects

ROCK SPRINGS  After deciding to stop pursuing the 2020 special purpose tax initiative due to the COVID-19 pandemic and economic downturn, the Rock Springs City Council is starting those conversations again for the proposed 2022 special purpose tax initiative. During a special Council meeting tonight, the Council reviewed its 2020 special purpose tax priority list to see if those proposed projects are still viable for the 2022 special purpose tax ballot initiative. Councilor Keaton West, who is the Council’s liaison on the special purpose tax committee, led the discussion. Sweetwater County Commissioners to Discuss 2021-2022 Budget Requests

SWEETWATER COUNTY The Sweetwater County Commissioners will have discussions over the Fiscal Year 2022 budget requests as well as County reserves during the Board of County Commission meeting Tuesday morning. The Commission is scheduled to meet at 8:30 a.m. at the Sweetwater County Courthouse in Green River. At its meeting, the Board is scheduled to hear the FY2022 budget request filings as well as discuss the County reserves and the latest mineral valuations. Bonnie Berry, Sweetwater County Accounting Manager, will present the totals for the budget requests as they stand now. According to meeting packet documents, the total FY2022 budget request filings total $100.3 million. The request totals are as follows:
