Rocky Mountain Partners with SEDC to Launch a New Countywide Economic Development Website

GREEN RIVER The Sweetwater Economic Development Coalition (SEDC) recently collaborated with Rocky Mountain Power to help in the funding of their new countywide Economic Development Website. The Sweetwater Economic Development Coalition recently unveiled their new logo and marketing campaign in early March with the website going live on April 2. The partnership with Rocky Mountain Power is a part of their Coal Impacted Communities Program. SEDC was eligible for funding from Rocky because of their focus on diversification and job enhancement for Sweetwater County.   “We appreciate the opportunity to support the Sweetwater Economic Development Coalition’s mission to sustain and retain a strong, diversified business climate,” said Sharon Fain, Rocky Mountain Power’s Vice President for Wyoming. “This new website will serve as a key economic development tool for business recruitment, attraction and expansion as well as job enhancement.”

Program Offers Free Consultations for Sweetwater County Small Businesses and Nonprofits

SWEETWATER COUNTY Small business and nonprofit organizations throughout Sweetwater County will have access to a network of consultants, coaches, mentors, and advisors from April 15 through May 15. The Sweetwater Economic Development Coalition (SEDC) has partnered with the Green River Main Street, Rock Springs Main Street, Green River Chamber of Commerce, and the Rock Springs Chamber of Commerce to deliver the new program. The group of experts offering their support to Sweetwater County is known as GrowHome Sweetwater. “We’ll be identifying small businesses and nonprofits in Sweetwater County that could use the help of a consultant,” SEDC Specialist Kayla McDonald said. “Basically, it’s a free consulting opportunity for any Sweetwater County small business or nonprofit.”

SEDC seeks to attract manufacturer

Green River Star - Work continues with Middle Baxter area   An outdoor manufacturer is interested in coming to Rock Springs, through discussions are in their preliminary phases. Kayla McDonald, economic development specialist for the Sweetwater Economic Development Coalition, said the organization is working with a company which manufactures outdoor recreation equipment in a bid to establish the company in Rock Springs. McDonald declined to name the company, citing the early nature of the discussions, but said both Western Wyoming Community College and Rock Springs Mayor Tim Kaumo have been involved as well. McDonald said Kaumo was the person responsible for bringing the company to the SEDC’s attention.
