After accident, Dallas neighborhood rallies around Haute Sweets Patisserie and its injured workers

The Nov. 17 incident sent all three to the hospital during the gourmet shop’s busiest season.
But the outpouring of community support that followed has been “overwhelming,” says Pichakron, who operates the business with her husband, Jason Reed.
Neighboring restaurants in Lake Highlands pitched in to clean up. A friend drew the bakery’s logo across the temporary plywood storefront, and people started signing it a testament that the couple ultimately moved to their home a couple of blocks away.

Today, the northwest corner of Hillcrest and Arapaho roads in Far North Dallas is a construction zone flanked by largely vacant storefronts. But by spring, developer David Sacher says he wants “to give the neighborhood its neighborhood village back,” with a half dozen restaurants opening out onto a 1.5-acre city-owned park that has gotten the nickname “a mini Klyde Warren Park.”

Haute Sweets Patisserie is trying to make up ground after an unfortunate accident at their store that shut down their kitchen. This craze caught us by surprise, owner and chef of Haute Sweets Tida Pichakron says. Now that we have the kitchen 90% repaired from the accident, we have been playing catch-up on remaking all of the holiday treats we lost and filling all of the orders for these bombs. It s been a blessing for us to help bring in much-needed revenue to help us recover.
