It was honours even once again on day two of the 36th America’s Cup in Auckland as “underdogs Luna Rossa managed to bloody Kiwi noses, just as they did on Wednesday.
The Italians won the first race of the day at a canter before defenders New Zealand rallied to take race two in equally convincing fashion and level the first-to-seven series at 2-2.
Home fans, who packed the race village for the first time in this match after local Covid restrictions were lifted, would have been mightily relieved by the margin of their team’s victory in that second race: over a minute in the final reckoning.
