WINNIPEG Manitoba has crossed 50,000 total cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic was declared in March 2020. On Friday, the province announced 497 new infections, bringing the total to 50,144. Four cases were removed due to a data correction. Of the new cases, Winnipeg had the highest number with 324, the Prairie Mountain Health Region had 80 cases, 36 cases are from Southern Health, 32 cases are in the Interlake-Eastern Health Region and 25 are from the Northern Health Region. No new deaths were reported in Manitoba on Friday. There have been 1,042 deaths in Manitoba since the pandemic started. The province said one previously announced death was removed.
WINNIPEG Another Manitoban has lost their life due to COVID-19 as the province s death count reaches 1,029. The latest death was a man in his 80s from the Southern Health Region. Manitoba also had another high case count Sunday with 461 new cases, however, two cases were removed due to a data correction. With the new cases, Manitoba s active case count has climbed to over 5,000 now sitting at 5,072. The province has had 48,436 cases since the start of the pandemic and 42,335 people have recovered. Winnipeg continues to have the highest number of new cases of COVID-19 with 299, and the five-day test positivity rate is 16.7 per cent.
WINNIPEG Manitoba s death count continued to climb on Saturday as the province announced six new deaths connected to COVID-19. Of those deaths, five are linked to variants of concern. The deaths include a man in his 50s from the Southern Health Region linked to the B.1.1.7 variant. All the other deaths are from the Winnipeg area, including; · A woman in her 30s linked to the B.1.1.7 variant; · A man in his 60s linked to an unspecified variant; · Two men in their 70s, one of which was linked to the B.1.1.7 variant; and · A woman in her 70s connected to the P.1 variant.
