Acer Swift 3X design impressions
On the whole, the Acer Swift 3X nails the vibe it’s going for. This is a small, light, affordable, and long-lasting laptop targeting on-the-go content creators.

Those characteristics have rarely melded before, as content creation laptops have typically cost and weighed more due to their need for discrete graphics chips. The Iris Xe Max
is a discrete GPU, but it’s basically identical to the integrated Xe graphics in Intel’s Tiger Lake chips. The Xe Max, however, is split out and paired with 4GB of its own low-power LPDDR4X memory, rather than the usual higher-power GDDR5 or GDDR6. That upgrade, though somewhat modest, means Xe Max can be used in smaller, cheaper laptops like the Swift 3X. We’ll dive deeper into the capabilities of Intel’s discrete GPU and Deep Link technology later.
According to XDA Developers latest report, the tech giant manufacturer first unveiled its Intel Iris Xe MAX discrete GPU, together with its 11th-gen Tiger Lake processors, for thin and light laptops.
The latest GPU offered significant improvements compared to the Iris Xe-LP integrated GPU. And now, Intel has now unveiled the Intel Xe MAX discrete GPU for desktops to take thins a step further.
Intel stated that the new cards offer three display outputs capable of hardware video decode, encode acceleration, and 4K output. Aside from these features, the new GPU would also have Adaptive Sync, Display HDR support, and AV1 decode support.
Where is Intel going to place its next strategic bet?

Intel is the company that powers most of the world’s PCs, servers and datacentres. But while it is the market leader, it is not the most valuable semiconductor company. That accolade goes to Nvidia, which last September took the audacious decision to buy ARM, whose microprocessor design dominates the smart device market.
Intel’s announcements during the Consumer Electronics Show in January may be welcome news for PC manufacturers, but it is questionable whether new iterations of microprocessors are likely to give the company the boost it needs to keep ahead.
