On 21 January, a parliamentary panel on information technology questioned WhatsApp representatives on its recently proposed changes in the privacy policy.
Earlier this month, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology asked WhatsApp to withdraw its privacy policy. It said the new terms and conditions take away choice from Indian users.
The change in WhatsApp s privacy terms, which required users to share their data with both Facebook and Instagram, led several users to switch to other messaging apps like Signal.
