34 fines issued for Covid breaches - police warn against complacency POLICE have warned against complacency after revealing they have issued a disappointing 34 fines in the past week for Covid rule breaches in York and North Yorkshire. Chief Inspector Charlotte Bloxham, North Yorkshire Police s operational lead for the Coronavirus pandemic, said today that the majority of fixed penalty notices were issued for indoor gatherings. They were mainly issued in the Scarborough area but three were handed out in York and four in the Harrogate district. She said the number of fines was disappointing when compared with only seven having been issued last week, and said it was vital people guard against complacency in the battle against the coronavirus, which was most likely to spread indoors.
NO further fines for breaching Covid laws have been issued in Ryedale - but seven have been issued across North Yorkshire. North Yorkshire Police revealed that all of the further seven Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs) over the last week were issued for indoor gatherings in Ripon and Scarborough. Four were issued in Ripon and three in Scarborough. The FPNs are split into five different categories: being outside the place of living, indoor gatherings, outdoor gatherings, obstruct/contravene and gatherings of over 15 people. Chief Inspector Charlotte Bloxham said: “In line with the gradual easing of the lockdown, our focus is very much on reacting to high-risk activities such as indoor gatherings.
